Amsterdam Alternative originated in 2015 as a collective project by a few of ‘alternative’ (sub)cultural spaces to amplify the voice of the Amsterdam underground. At the moment about 25 venues like the OT301, OCCII, ADM, Cinetol, Vondelbunker and Filmhuis Cavia are involved.
Through a bi-monthly newspaper the agendas of the participating venues are communicated as well as a growing amount of in depth articles on topics such as housing, art, climate, gentrification, activism, politics, sustainability and autonomy. Besides the newspaper Amsterdam Alternative organizes several kinds of events like the AA Talks (discussion nights), the AADE (Amsterdam Alternative Dance Event) and a reading group. In 2020 also new projects like the AA Academy and ‘Vrij Beton’ (collective ownership project) were launched.
From the start 310k has been involved in developping, coordinating and designing all activities of Amsterdam Alternative. We created the identity, the newspapers, event banners, posters, beer labels and the website. The new website (2020) has got a lot of new features and functionalities compared to the first website. Besides the alternative viewing switch that changes the design this website has a full functioning content management system with various levels for editors to upload various sorts of content as well as an online portal for members of the association.
